For me, every wedding is special. A wedding is one of those rare occasions in modern life where meaning and ritual take centre stage, and family and friends gather to celebrate and honour a couple’s relationship and life together.
When I meet new couples, I listen to the story of who they are and how they work together. It’s important for me that a wedding ceremony reflects the couple getting married. The ceremony itself can be shaped to incorporate their backgrounds, their lifestyle and their way of looking at the world.
I enjoy incorporating elements into the ceremony that are meaningful for the couple and their families, and where people come from different backgrounds, I’m happy to find creative ways to bring different traditions into the ceremony.
With a background in mediation and facilitation, I’m passionate about healthy relationships and open communication. In addition to performing weddings, I also work with couples to develop a shared language to assist with difficult conversations that come up from time to time.
Mostly, I enjoy working with people. I have worked in both the public sector and with a variety of community groups in New Zealand and overseas. I’m a member of the Celebrants Association of New Zealand and the dispute resolution organisation theĀ Resolution Institute. I am also an experienced project manager and a certified yoga teacher.
